The Birth of
Hibiki

The Original Car
One picture of an RWB online was all it took to decide, we want one, so we set out to find a 911 air cooled Porsche and had our sights set on a 964, we had decided to build one of the best RWB’s around, so we had to make sure we looked for a clean accident free car, Manual gearbox obviously, having scoured the internet we realised that many of them were in pretty poor shape so we had to look abroad, the last thing you need is a vehicle that has had some kind of previous damage, even if the repair is done well, Nakai San will be able to identify the damage just by looking and gauging the vehicle, we found one and without hesitation, imported it, we did the full checks and even had independent verification, the best thing was when it arrived it was better than we imagined the car was in unmarked showroom condition.
Once the car was secured, the next thing was to determine what type of body kit would suit us, we must have checked out every RWB image on the Internet and watched every video going to help us decide, at the time the UK had no RWB partner in place who we had no one to get advice from, our point of contact was limited there were international partners in place but most dealt with their own countries, because we knew exactly how we wanted the vehicle to look it made our life easier and also for Japan because all they needed to know from us was what arches we needed, the rear wing, side skirts et cetera. We opted for the Royal wide arches complete with fender wings which was a first in Europe.

Conversion
We placed our order, sent the money to Nakai San and impatiently waited for it to arrive, as all the kits are handmade to order, we knew it would take some time, months later the day finally came when we received a huge box containing the entire body kit, Nakai San gave us a build date and boy did we get a move on, and this is where we had to step up to the mark and make sure the vehicle was ready to accept the kit. The car has to be fully prepared with everything fitted and working as well as all the parts painted and ready to install so once the car has the kit fitted, it should be ready to drive.
We delivered the vehicle to the Lemass Automotive who sponsored the paint for a full stripped down and re-paint in our chosen colour, the rain drain seams which run down on either side of the roof down to the rear quarter were removed and smoothed down, to give a clean look, the insides of the vehicle were also painted, luckily this car had no desired sunroof which is a rare option as some vehicles with a sunroof, have no option but to install a false panel and have that welded in place with filler on top, this allowed us to have the ceiling of the Porsche painted.
The engine was removed and sent back to us to complete the engine transformation, it was steam cleaned, degreased and relevant parts painted so when the engine would be re-fitted it would stand out like a piece of art.

Preparation
The colour of the vehicle is also crucial, we were asked to give three colour choices of our preference and Nakai-San decided the final colour, it was exactly what we were hoping for. When the vehicle came back from the body shop the next step for us was to sort out the suspension, this was where KW suspension came up with the latest coil over setup complete with an HLS lift kit which allowed us to raise the vehicle at the push of a button, this was an invaluable addition which raised the vehicle so it can be driven on to a trailer with ease.
JL audio supplied the entire sound system which is simply controlled by small round interface on the dashboard and connects via Bluetooth to a mobile phone, the rear seats were removed and we hand built speaker pods to house the subwoofers, door speakers were also inserted into hand built pods, JL Audio then came and tuned the system to deliver an extremely high-quality sound.
As the interior was smoothed out, the handbrake and centre console were all removed and in its place, we installed an electronic handbrake system which allowed us to utilise the handbrake via a button which was mounted on the dash.

Final
From here Nakai San took over and started work installing the kit, he had only just landed and we collected him from the airport and mentioned that he must be tired after the long flight and can take him to the hotel to rest but he said he can’t wait to start on the car and went straight to the workshop.
From here the pictures say it all, this was probably the most special experiences of our lives and were honoured to finally own the first official RWB in United Kingdom, Nakai signed the car under the bonnet, the engine and between the rear seats for the final touch after naming the car Hibiki.
Fans turned up from nowhere to witness Hibiki being driven out for a test drive by Nakai-San which made the whole experience memorable.
We would also encourage people to come forward and have a car built, because the journey is unbelievable full of excitement and when you step in to your creation you forget everything but feel blessed for being part of history being made.
We also thank our sponsors without whom this project would have taken longer, the support received was overwhelming.
